The New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) today announced that remote online proctored testing will be available starting June 15th for all 28 New York insurance licensing exams. Most testing centers in the State have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Online testing will allow candidates to take the exams at a testing center or any other location of their choice, including their home or office. This option is available to all candidates.

“DFS is pleased to provide more flexibility to insurance license candidates, particularly in light of existing COVID-19 social distancing restrictions,” said Superintendent of Financial Services Linda A. Lacewell. “This is one of many ways DFS is leveraging technology to support the insurance industry.”

In 2019 alone, PSI administered 36,389 insurance licensing exams. Given this volume and in light of COVID-19 social distancing measures, online exams will increase testing accessibility for all candidates.

Candidates can go to the PSI website at www.psionline.com/contact/ to sign up for a remote insurance examination slot and for additional information. Candidates’ computers must be compatible with the testing requirements to take the exam. Examinations can be scheduled during the day, as well as in the evening and on weekends.
