Insurers Adjusting Claims on Behalf of Other Insurers

It has come to the attention of the Department that not all insurers which are adjusting accident and health and/or property/casualty claims on behalf of other insurers are properly licensed as independent adjusters.

The purpose of this circular letter is to remind licensed insurers of their responsibility to obtain the appropriate independent adjuster’s license pursuant to N.Y. Ins. Law Section 2108 and Regulation 25 (11 NYCRR 26) when adjusting accident and health and/or property/casualty claims on behalf of other insurers.
