RE: LIENS AGAINST THE PROCEEDS OF FIRE INSURANCE POLICIES

The Insurance Department has established a Tax Lien Records Office in New York City and Albany in order to maintain an index of tax districts as well as an index of tax liens in accordance with the provisions of Section 33-a of the Insurance Law.

In compliance with law this Department has prepared an index of tax districts but, to date, no filings have been made by such districts for entry in the index of liens as required by Section 22 of the General Municipal Law. In addition, a program is also being designed by this Department to facilitate the recording of tax liens.

It will be required that requests for information on tax liens from the Tax Lien Records Office be made in person during regular business hours at the following two offices of the Insurance Department:

1 - New York City Office - 2 World Trade Center - 81st Floor

Att: Mr. Herbert Campbell - Phone-Area Code 212-488-3838

2 - Albany Office - Empire State Plaza - 5th Floor

Att: Mr. Lloyd Franks - Phone-Area Code 518-474-8567

Very truly yours,

[SIGNATURE]

Acting Superintendent of Insurance
