BNY Mellon has committed nearly $2.2 million in support of COVID-19 relief, partnering with the CDC, International Medical Corps, and Save the Children to augment the capacity of state and local health departments to respond and supporting local and regional non-profits who offer PPEs, medical equipment, meals, shelter, transportation, sanitation items, etc. to first responders, healthcare workers, transit workers, and other vulnerable populations.

In New York, BNY Mellon has provided aid to Direct Relief, Food Bank for New York City, Fund for Public Schools and The Mayor’s Fund (specifically for New York City public hospitals) and has facilitated charitable donations to Brooklyn Hospital, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Help USA. BNY Mellon also obtained 50,000 surgical masks through their vendors and donated them to Brooklyn Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital. They are also partnering with the Mayor’s Fund to donate more than 270 tablets for use in the in the ICU units of Bellevue Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital and Jacobi Medical Center.

The Citi Foundation has given $15 million to support coronavirus-relief efforts globally. Of the total, $5 million will be directed to the United Nations Foundation and World Health Organization's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Another $5 million will go to No Kid Hungry to support emergency food-distribution programs in the United States. The remaining $5 million will be disbursed to international efforts in countries that are severely affected by the pandemic.

Liberty Mutual and Safeco auto insurance customers will receive 15% refunds on two months of their premiums, will returning $250 million to consumers. The company will also pause cancellations for not paying, and late fees.

LICONY is providing a $250,000 grant to the Governor’ Fund for first responders.

MassMutual  launched Health Bridge, a free life insurance program for eligible healthcare workers on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program provides guaranteed coverage for a three-year term with no medical underwriting and a face amount of $25,000 for ages 18-50 and $10,000 for ages 51-60. It was filed and approved by the Connecticut Insurance Department, and initially available to front line workers in Connecticut and Massachusetts, but has been expanded to include eligible healthcare workers in New York.

MetLife is allowing extended grace periods for customers, delaying implementation of proposed long-term care insurance rate increases until September, providing conditional approval for 14 calendar days on disability claims from the date of disability pending receipt of medical evidence, and expanding benefits available under our accident & health policies to cover COVID-19 testing.

The MetLife Foundation has committed $25 million to the global response to COVID-19, including making a $1M donation to food banks around the US ($400K in NYS). Use of MetLife facilities for hospitals and other medical purposes, making the Intercontinental Times Square available to house healthcare workers and leading the coordination among the hotels being provided by others in New York City.  Donated masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant to hospitals.  Rolled out a 3-month rent deferral program to be used for small, local retail tenants who have been directly impacted by social distancing and group gathering restrictions. Suspended stock buybacks.

New York Life Insurance Company donated $250,000 to the New York Life Emergency Assistance Fund to support New York Life agents and employees in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. They also donated $450,000 to support efforts related to the coronavirus pandemic to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s Covid-19 Response Fund and the CDC Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund.

The PRI COVID-19 support program is virtual, complimentary and anonymous and available to any and all doctors and healthcare workers regardless of coverage.

Progressive returned over $50 million to personal auto customers in New York.  Additionally, the company committed $46 million in advances and donations to provide additional support to independent agents and helped in towns where its employees, agents and customers live by funding a donation of $8 million by the Progressive Foundation to charities focused on hunger, health and homelessness, including Feeding America, the American Red Cross and the National Alliance to End Homelessness.

Propel is partnering with GiveDirectly to enable people to make donations directly to New York SNAP beneficiaries. So far the company has already disbursed hundreds of $1,000 grants to some of New York’s most vulnerable households.

Standard Chartered launched a $50 million global fund to help people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Group has already provided $25 million to support emergency relief in countries where the number of COVID-19 cases has soared and healthcare facilities are under significant pressure and is committing up to $1 billion in loans, import/export financing and working capital for certain companies fighting COVID-19, and support industry leaders who are adapting production resources to help fight the pandemic.

USAA said members with auto insurance policies will get a 20% credit on two months of premiums, totaling $520 million. The company will also halt fees for late and returned payments, allow members to stop non-payment cancellations, and simplify the process for setting up payment arrangements.
