Liesbeth Meyerowitz
Born in Königsberg on June 20, 1880, Liesbeth Dorothea Meyerowitz née Müller was married to the wealthy industrialist Hermann Meyerowitz, who owned a number of flax related businesses in Germany and Breslau as well as several pieces of real estate in Breslau. The family resided in a luxurious villa in Berlin-Dahlem. Mr. Meyerowitz died on May 23, 1936, and the next year his widow sold her eclectic collection of thirteen paintings under duress at the Berlin auction house Rudolph Lepke on February 12-13, 1937.
Ms. Meyerowitz remained at the family's Berlin villa until she was forced to sell it in December 1938 due to her Jewish descent. On October 10, 1942 the Staatspolizei Berlin confiscated the remainder of her property and assets. On January 12, 1943, she was deported to Auschwitz, where she perished.
