Continuing Education Renewals
All Continuing Education approvals will expire on November 30, 2021. To continue to act as an Approved Provider Organization you must submit a renewal application prior to the expiration date.
Please note: Monitors are no longer required when taking an exam for a self-study course. The monitor approvals will not be renewing.
Provider Renewal Instructions
Access to the Provider Renewal Application can be found on the Provider Details page of CE Provider Reporting System application.
If you have not yet registered a username and password to access these pages you can do so by selecting the Sign-Up link on the login page. You will need your provider approval number and provider index number.

Please Note: If you have no currently approved courses, you cannot renew online. You must contact us at [email protected] to obtain paper applications.
Approved Lists
The Approved Course and Approved Instructor pages list all currently approved courses and instructors. You must select the ones you wish to renew.
All selected instructors must complete a separate Instructor Renewal Application. The provider renewal application cannot be completed until all selected instructors have submitted their renewal applications. When selected for renewal on the Approved Instructor page, a renewal notice will be sent to the instructor email address indicated in the email field.
The status of the instructor will remain pending on the Provider Renewal Application until the Instructor Renewal Application is completed. Once the status of all selected instructors shows Complete, you may complete the Provider Renewal Application.
Fee Information
Renewal fees may be paid by credit card, echeck or paper check. The renewal fees are:
- $200 for the provider
- $50 for each course
- $50 for each instructor
If paying by check, you may submit one check, bank check or money order in the amount of the total fee. Please attach the check to the payment invoice and mail to the address provided. Checks must be made payable to the Superintendent of Financial Services.
Pursuant to New York State Insurance Law, Section 2132(i) (3), all fees are non-refundable.

Printing Approval Documents
You will be notified when your applications have been reviewed and approved. The notification will include instructions on how to print your approval documents.
Instructor Renewal Instructions
If a provider or providers have elected to renew your instructor approval you must complete and submit the instructor renewal application. If selected by multiple providers, you must complete an application for each provider.
The provider cannot complete the renewal process until you have submitted your renewal application. Please respond in a timely manner when notified of a pending renewal application.
You will not be charged a fee to complete the instructor renewal application. The fee to renew the instructor approval will be included in the provider renewal fees.

Browsers and Blockers:
- Use a supported browser: The latest version plus one previous of IE, FF, Chrome and Safari, are supported.
- Disable “Pop-up Blocker” setting in your browser before using DFS portal applications.
- Maintenance: The application may be unavailable daily from 7:30am to 7:45am for scheduled maintenance.

Continuing Education Provider Program
The Continuing Education Provider Program approves competent providers and instructors that offer appropriate courses to licensees so that they may remain current in their knowledge of the insurance marketplace and related laws and regulations. Parties interested in applying to become DFS approved providers of continuing education must complete and forward the appropriate application(s). Application fees are non-refundable.

Education Provider Reporting System
The Education Provider Reporting System allows approved providers to submit course schedules and attendance rosters to DFS.
Provider Registration
Each provider representative must register and create their own user ID and password. Third Party Administrators must create a unique user ID for each provider with whom you work.
Licensee Information
You will need a license number and the correct spelling of the first and last name to submit an attendance roster. You can use the Producer/Licensee Search to verify license numbers and names.
Batch Roster
Batch files can be uploaded directly to the application. The formatting for batch files has changed. There is no limit to the number of lines of data that may be uploaded.
Real Time Application
Schedules and course attendance are available for viewing immediately upon successful submission.

PreLicensing Education Providers
Individuals seeking to be licensed as an insurance producer or public adjuster must pass a licensing exam. Before taking the exam, the licensing candidate must complete a Department approved prelicensing course delivered by an approved Provider Organization (Provider).
Those seeking to become an approved Prelicensing Education Provider must meet the requirements outlined in the Prelicensing Criteria and submit all required applications and documentation.
The Provider must offer approved courses covering topics contained in the most current content outlines. Exam Content Topic Locators must accompany all course approval applications. Links to those forms are provided below.
