New York Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo Receives the Excellence in Consumer Advocacy Award from NAIC Consumer Representatives

New York Financial Services Superintendent Maria T. Vullo has been awarded the Excellence in Consumer Advocacy Award from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Consumer Representatives during the 225th NAIC Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California.

“I am honored to receive the Excellence in Consumer Advocacy Award from this important group representing consumers within the National Association of Insurance Commissioners,” said Superintendent Vullo. “My mission as Financial Services Superintendent is to safeguard the financial services industry while protecting New York’s consumers.  I take this mission very seriously, particularly now, as the federal government rolls back important protections for consumers.”

"We, as well as many other NAIC consumer representatives and consumer organizations, have had the great fortune to work with Superintendent Vullo on a variety of critical consumer protection issues," NAIC consumer representative Katie Keith said. "Superintendent Vullo consistently champions the needs of consumers across various product lines and issues."

The NAIC works closely with consumer representatives to assist state regulators in their primary objective of protecting insurance consumers.
