DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES OFFERING INSURANCE ASSISTANCE IN BROOKLYN, SUFFOLK COUNTY, STATEN ISLAND AND NASSAU COUNTY
Department Representatives Available to Answer Insurance Questions
Storm Hotline Also Being Staffed to Help Storm Sandy Victims
Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, announced that representatives of the Department of Financial Services will be at locations in Brooklyn, Suffolk County, Staten Island and Nassau County to help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by Storm Sandy.
The Department's representatives will be available to meet with residents inside the agency's Mobile Command Center, which will be stationed at these locations:
Brooklyn
Saturday, Feb. 2 -- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 9719 Flatlands Ave, Canarsie.
Monday, Feb. 4 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gerritsen Little League Field, 2901 Gerritsen Ave.
Suffolk County
Tuesday, Feb. 5 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at lot on the corner of Bennett Place and Montauk Highway at the end of Route 110 in Amityville Village.
Staten Island
Wednesday, Feb. 6 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stop & Shop, 4343 Amboy Blvd., Great Kills/Eltingville
Nassau County
Thursday, Feb. 7 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wantagh Fire House, 2529 Neptune Ave., Seaford.
Friday, Feb. 8 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Newbridge Road Park, 2600 Newbridge Rd., Bellmore.
Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage.
Citizens unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department's storm hotline (800) 339-1759 which is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily including weekends. Insurance information is also available on the Department's website, www.dfs.ny.gov.
