DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES OFFERING INSURANCE ASSISTANCE AT SIX LOCATIONS IN NASSAU COUNTY AND NEW YORK CITY BOROUGHS
Department Representatives Available to Answer Insurance Questions
Storm Hotline Also Being Staffed to Help Storm Sandy Victims
Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, announced representatives of the Department of Financial Services will be at six locations in Nassau County and New York City to offer help to homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by Storm Sandy.
The Department's representatives will be available to meet with residents inside the agency's Mobile Command Center, which will be stationed at these locations:
Nassau County
Thursday, Dec. 13 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Rd., Farmingdale.
Brooklyn
Friday, Dec. 14 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3047 Emmons Ave., Sheepshead Bay.
Queens
Saturday, Dec. 15 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at C-Town/Rockaway Beach Shopping Center, 8715 Rockaway Beach Blvd.
Nassau County
Sunday, Dec 16. – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brach's Five Towns, 11 Lawrence Lane, Lawrence.
Staten Island
Monday, Dec. 17 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stop & Shop, Great Kills/Eltingville, 4343 Amboy Blvd.
Queens
Tuesday, Dec. 18 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Waldbaum's Grocery, Howard Beach, 15601 Cross Bay Blvd., Jamaica.
Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage.
Citizens unable to go to the Mobile Command Center are encouraged to call the Department's storm hotline (800) 339-1759 which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Insurance information is also available on the Department's website, www.dfs.ny.gov.
